This is a great time to get reading from the RI Book Awards Lists!

Summer Reading Program 2025
LEVEL UP AT YOUR LIBRARY
This year's Summer Reading Program theme is "Level Up at Your Library." The goal is not only to get your children reading during the summer months, but also to keep their problem solving skills sharp. Whether that be through video games, board games, outside games, puzzles, or even choose-your-own-adventure books!

We've taken the theme and partnered with the Dover Library's Reading Dragons Program to create a trading card game for us to all play together at the end of the summer. Each week, the prize for reading will be a set of Dragon Trading Cards (with some color variations). In addition to the weekly rewards, there will be unique trading cards as rewards for going to a Summer Reading Program Event! The event trading cards have been specially designed by Dee over the past couple of months to match our events (She also designed the arcade machine, isn't she talented?). At the end of the summer, you will be a Master Dragon Reader and everybody should have a complete set of cards to play a dragon themed game of rock, paper, scissors with! Or to mix and match with your friends!

Kids Program
For kids in grades K-6. Read 15 minutes a day and come in each week with you reading log for a set of Dragon Trading Cards. You can also redeem Special Edition Dragon Trading Cards by attending Summer Reading Program Events. If you're unable to attend an event, we will have an alternate activity to complete to earn the award. The list is available at the bottom of this page! :)

Teen Program
For youth in the 6th grade and up, please also read at least 15 (if not 25) minutes a day over the summer to collect your Dragon Trading Cards. Keep track of your reading with the log provided. If you do not wish to do the reading log, you can do the tasks listed below instead.
-
Signing up for Summer Reading (one time use)
-
Checking out 3 or more items each week (six time use)
-
Attending an SRP Event (seven time use) **Special Edition**
-
Signing up for a library card (one time use)
Each alternate task can only be done once a week during the program to redeem weekly awards.
